Pan-Pan Gou 郭盼盼
Some friends call me Pan Square, bread-bread, MAYDAY. I have heard it all.
As a sound designer and composer, I explore creating sonic experiences that travel between heightened theatricality and emotional nuances. Her work spans theater, games, film, opera, and dance. I was awarded Second Prize in Emerging Sound Design and shortlisted as one of the 100 final exhibitors at World Stage Design 2025. Some of my theater credits include City Theatre, Chautauqua Theatre, Theater Mu, Creede Rep, Cleveland Public Theater (Associate), Pittsburgh Opera, etc. Outside of the theater, I sound-designed the VR game “Pittsburgh Glass Center: Virtual Glass Blowing,” which received a Golden Place at the 2023 International Serious Play Award and is currently in classroom use at the Pittsburgh Glass Center.
Originally from Taiwan, I received my MFA from Carnegie Mellon University and B.A from UC, Irvine.
With a classical voice background, I am fascinated by the innate musicality of sound design and love to create evocative, dynamic compositions through a blend of synthesis, acoustic instruments, real-time vocal processing, and sound effects.
